General Guidelines for Admission

Applicants must meet stated age requirements.  Birth certificates are required at the time of application.  To enter the PreK program children must be 3 years old by September 1 and be fully potty trained.  To begin Kindergarten students must be age 5 by September 1; to enter first grade students must be age 6 by September 1, and to enter second grade students must be age 7 by September 1.  Students transferring into Daystar are typically placed in the classroom with their age level peers.

Daystar must have the necessary resources, staff, space, equipment, etc. to meet the academic, social, physical, and behavioral needs of the applicant.  Testing and a copy of the applicant’s school records, a copy of the two most recent report cards, the most recent standardized test scores (if applicable) or other information from a school or daycare center previously attended may be required to determine whether Daystar can provide an appropriate educational program for the applicant and/or assist in the determination of grade or classroom placement. Teacher and principal recommendations may also be requested.

Families are not accepted if they have outstanding debts for the applicant’s education at schools previously attended.

Prospective students with siblings attending Daystar are given priority for enrollment if due dates for submitting paperwork are met.   Enrollment in Daystar’s PreK program does not guarantee the child a spot in the Kindergarten class.

Parents are expected to support Daystar School and their children’s educational experience through active participation in school events, volunteer activities, and donations to the school or New to You Thrift Store.

All students accepted at Daystar enter under a six week probationary period.  Grade or classroom placement of applicants is determined by the School.
